Aristotle Onassis: Still owes me 3 shillings!
The owner of Olympic Airways (attached to BEA) in the ’60s) made a sudden late appearance onto an all Olympic Airways Comet tourist flight to Athens from Heathrow.
I was the flight steward and had the dubious honour of looking after him in 1st class with no first class catering.
I served him the requested miniature Brandy from the economy class bar (3 shillings) and never got paid!
The Onassis family fortune isn’t quite as large as everyone imagines !
Alone with Audrey Hepburn
I was alone with Audrey Hepburn, both of us silently staring at the double bed..our eyes locked and I tentatively asked her,
“Do you fancy it?”
“It’s a possibility” she said with that smile of hers.
We both moved on……out from the bed department of ‘Heals’ Tottenham Court Road ~ mid 1980s.
A moment that I shall always remember!
Cool: Chet Baker
I feel honoured to have been at Ronnie Scott’s in Frith St to witness the last live performance of this great jazz trumpeter.
This was before his death in Amsterdam shortly afterwards. Was it really 26 years ago? …..
It seems like only yesterday (1969), that whilst in my office in Saville Rowe situated opposite the Beatles Apple building,
I heard ‘Get Back’ being played from their rooftop! Billy Preston blasted on his electric keyboard.
Happy memories ..
